From 26 May to 15 June, the “Roots Awakening Vol. 2” project, organised by the Association "Hope for Us-2008", brought together volunteers from different countries at Amorea Garden in Bunovo Village, Bulgaria. The project's mission was to support and empower communities and individuals through short-term individual and team volunteering activities while promoting sustainable living, environmental awareness, and personal development. INEDNET NGO’s representatives Zorik Samvelyan, Knarik Hayrapetyan and Rebeka Mesropyan, together with other international volunteers, actively contributed to the project's educational, environmental, and community-based activities.

Throughout the program, participants focused on developing environmental skills while improving their physical and mental well-being. Through practical workshops and hands-on experiences, they learnt how to build using ecological materials, create compost toilets, practise sustainable gardening, and participate in various environmental initiatives. The project also provided opportunities to develop creative and digital competencies, including painting, content creation, and social media skills.

An important component of the project was a business and entrepreneurship workshop. Participants explored the fundamentals of project planning and sustainable entrepreneurship, creating their own eco-friendly business ideas. They also learned how environmental concepts can be transformed into viable projects with social impact. The welcoming atmosphere at Amorea Garden encouraged strong connections among participants from different cultural backgrounds. Through daily cooperation, cultural exchange, and shared experiences, volunteers built meaningful friendships and created lasting memories. The sense of community became one of the most valuable aspects of the project.

Physical volunteering activities played a significant role throughout the program. Working outdoors and contributing to meaningful tasks helped participants strengthen their connection with nature while supporting their emotional well-being. Regular yoga sessions complemented these activities by promoting physical health, mindfulness, and balance. Supporting the local community was another essential part of the project. Volunteers assisted residents, including elderly neighbours, with various tasks and participated in community improvement initiatives throughout the village. These experiences enabled participants to engage directly with residents, better understand rural life, and make a positive contribution to the community.

The project also offered valuable opportunities to learn traditional ecological practices. Participants learned how to identify and sort medicinal herbs, prepare herbal syrups, and cook healthy vegan meals. Spending time immersed in nature encouraged greater environmental awareness and inspired healthier lifestyle choices.

In addition to the educational and volunteering activities, participants prepared traditional Bulgarian dishes and explored many beautiful locations across the region. Despite these excursions, Amorea Garden remained a special place that participants considered their home throughout the project.

Roots Awakening Vol. 2 was an inspiring and educational experience that combined sustainability, entrepreneurship, community engagement, and intercultural learning. The project provided participants with practical skills, meaningful friendships, and valuable experiences that will continue to influence their personal and professional development long after the project’s completion.
