NextGen Volunteers and the Spark of Change: Celebrating the Power of Those Who Make a Difference

On October 26-31, INEDNET’s member Ani Minasyan had the amazing opportunity to attend NextGen Volunteers, organised by Bureau International Jeunesse (BIJ) and SALTO European Solidarity Corps, in Brussels.

Together with young people from all over Europe, they reflected on what volunteering means today and imagined what it could look like in the future. They have shared their experiences, discussed what’s working and what’s not, and even had the chance to meet with representatives of the European Commission, National Agencies, and SALTO ESC Resource Centres, exchanging ideas, asking questions, and voicing the visions of youth organisations for the future of volunteering in Europe.

Another project Ani took part in was the “Sparking Change” program: a truly inspiring experience that highlights how European Solidarity Corps volunteers create real impact in their communities. Participants from 15 different nationalities and backgrounds, some with years of experience in volunteering, came together to share ideas, stories, and experiences, learning from one another and exploring how volunteering can transform both people and places.

During the program, they also visited some incredible organisations working with youth and immigrants, seeing firsthand how they empower people and build stronger, more inclusive communities. By the end of the week, they joined forces to design and present a pilot community impact project — proof that collaboration and creativity can truly spark a change!
