🚀 ClimeART: Where Art Meets Climate Activism

From August 19 to 27, 2025, young people from Ukraine, Estonia, Palestine, Jordan, Kosovo, Romania, Spain, France, Ireland, and Armenia gathered in Vienna, Austria, for the Erasmus+ training course ClimeART: Where Art Meets Climate Activism. Organised by SCI Austria, the project brought together participants passionate about climate issues, creativity, and activism, with the goal of using art as a tool for environmental awareness and change.

The program unfolded step by step. On the first day, participants got to know each other and began building connections. The second day focused on climate change — its causes, consequences, and possible solutions. Participants expressed their reflections through posters and a city walk, capturing how nature and urban life coexist in Vienna.

Day three was dedicated to exploring the diverse forms of artivism, giving participants the chance to design their own creative projects. On the fourth day, workshops on storytelling and visibility were led by experienced facilitators, including Yadwiga, who shared valuable insights on activism. That afternoon, the group visited Vienna’s Natural History Museum, combining cultural discovery with environmental learning.

The final days were dedicated to preparing something extraordinary: a public performance highlighting the contribution of war to climate change. In less than a day, participants collaboratively created the performance from scratch. Divided into teams, they took on roles such as directing, scriptwriting, editing, and performing. The Armenian participants played key roles, with one joining the director’s team to work on the script and the other contributing as a content creator.

A particularly meaningful moment of the project came when the Armenian team presented how war has impacted the climate in Armenia. They also shed light on how wars can sometimes be disguised under the name of climate protection. Through this presentation, participants not only learned about Armenia’s history but also reflected on the complex links between conflict and environmental issues.

ClimeART proved to be more than just a training course — it was an inspiring journey where art, activism, and climate awareness merged into powerful action. Participants left Vienna empowered, carrying new tools and experiences to continue spreading messages of sustainability and change in their own communities.
