The Breaking the Silence: Empowering Voices Together training in Slovakia was a week of learning, reflection, and connection for the Armenian representatives. Held in the calm and welcoming town of Suchá nad Parnou, the sessions focused on human rights, inclusion, and practical strategies to counter hate speech in all its forms.

Throughout the week, the group participated in interactive workshops, group discussions, and hands-on exercises. They explored how language shapes communities, affects relationships, and can either divide or unite people. The training provided concrete tools for responding to harmful narratives and promoting respect—skills that can be applied in schools, workplaces, and online spaces back home.

A particularly meaningful part of the experience was that participants from other countries were open and willing to hear the Armenian team’s story, including the difficulties and challenges faced in their country. This openness created a safe and supportive environment where experiences could be shared honestly, helping to foster understanding, empathy, and deeper dialogue.

One of the most impactful aspects of the training was the exchange of experiences with participants from other countries. Listening to diverse perspectives reinforced the idea that silence is never neutral—choosing to speak up is an essential act of advocacy. Through group reflections and shared stories, the Armenian representatives learned how to connect the lessons from Slovakia with challenges in their own communities and daily lives.

The week was not only educational but also transformative. The training encouraged participants to reflect on their role as advocates for human rights and to recognize that promoting inclusion begins with small, everyday choices. By the end of the program, the Armenian representatives left with knowledge, practical skills, and a renewed sense of responsibility to create inclusive spaces and amplify voices that might otherwise go unheard.

Slovakia became more than just a location—it was a space for growth, dialogue, and collaboration. The lessons learned, the openness of participants to understanding Armenia’s story, and the connections made during this week will continue to guide the Armenian team as they take action against hate speech and work to foster communities where every voice matters.
