🎯 AIM AND OBJECTIVES

Within this project, the participants and organisers wish to create positive changes for the environment, communities, and the economy, moreover, they wish to carry out this activity as according to the latest statistics, estimate that around a third of all food goes to waste globally each year, over one billion tons, which amounts to nearly $940 billion in economic losses annually. All participants will learn how upcycling food waste helps reduce landfill emissions, promotes circular economies, and creates new food products. Within the activity, participants will not concentrate only on food waste as the topic should be discussed also from other perspectives such as digital waste, which it tackles both physical e-waste (electronic devices) and the energy/data footprint of digital activities, promoting better data visibility for sustainability. The reality is we need to explore how to fully adopt digital technology and implement corresponding governance mechanisms, to promote effective collaboration, enhance information exchange, and ultimately promote environmental, social, and economic goals.

🌍 CORE VALUES OF THE PROJECT

First of all, organisers wish to raise awareness to help direct and indirect beneficiaries understand how much food and digital resources are wasted and why that matters:

Raising awareness will happen within participants and youth workers and they will replicate it in their communities and raise awareness within their communities after they return from the training course.
By reducing waste, the project promotes sustainable practices that can benefit the environment: small steps taken by each of the participants will lead to big change and, in theory, will benefit everyone, not only the participants and their communities, but all.
The project brings better resource management: it encourages better use of resources, leading to savings and efficiency for NGOs and households.
The project also brings community engagement, as it aims to bring communities and NGOs from Europe together, creating a context for sharing ideas and solutions.
Finally, the project aims to lead to policy change, as it can influence policies that help reduce waste at a larger scale, leading to better regulations and practices.

🔍 PARTICIPANTS' PROFILE

18+ years old people who are interested in sustainability, environmental protection, and social responsibility, regardless of their previous knowledge or experience with the topics of food waste and digital waste, ready to stay and work on this project and also implement a follow-up activity after returning to their communities. Please READ all carefully.

🏠 ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD

Organizers will provide accommodation and food during the period of the mobility (meals and coffee breaks). The food is planned to be provided at the accommodation and is traditional and common in Balkan area. Still participants will also have visits in the city and eat outside so in order to avoid disappointments, be aware that the majority of the dishes are specific to the area. Persons with allergies, special diets, or different restrictions should inform the hosting organisation about their diets before the mobility starts so they can inform the kitchen.

Accommodation venue is right in the center of Oradea, Romania: Hostel Felix- Strada Mihai

Eminescu 11, Oradea. It is run by Bihor County Directorate for Sports and Youth, and you will be sharing the room with someone. Most of the rooms have 3-4 beds, so around 3-4 people in a room; some rooms have 2 beds, depending on availability. Each room has a bathroom.

💱 TRAVEL COSTS & REIMBURSEMENTS

Travel costs for Armenian participants will be calculated based on the distance calculator of the European Commission and reimbursed by bank transfer after the training course (in EUR) through direct reimbursement to participants' bank account. According to the distance calculator for Armenia, the maximum travel cost is 309 euros.
