The Partnership Building Activity (PBA) “Building synergies for sustainable local democracies”, organised by DYPALL Network in cooperation with Lisbon Youth Centre took place within the Winter Democracy Academy from 11th – 16th December 2023 in Lisbon, Portugal.
The PBA served as a platform for networking between European organisations working in the area of youth participation in decision-making processes at the local level. Through networking and dialogue, it aimed to brainstorm and develop innovative projects that empower young people and promote their participation in designing local policies.
The highlight of the Winter Democracy Academy was the International Conference themed "Today's Democracy Challenges", aiming to explore and assess pressing issues that the contemporary democracy faces. The event featured a presentation by political scientist and professor, followed by a round table discussion with youth leaders and activists on the current state of democracy and representation. The day concluded with a sharing session on the best practices and methods to engage young people, highlighting the pivotal role of youth in addressing the contemporary democratic challenges.
A crucial part during the PBA was the study visit to Almada, Portugal - an immersive experience that allowed participants to explore diverse perspectives and methodologies on youth participation practices within the municipality, enriching the collective dialogue.
The PBA culminated in an intensive session where the participants delved into opportunities for democracy projects within the Erasmus+ program. The session provided a platform to exchange and establish collaborations for future initiatives that would help to create more inclusive and participatory spaces for young people.
Gratitude is extended to all contributors and INEDNET staff members Harutyun Tsatryan and Alla Khachatryan for their profound insights and dedication in shaping new collaborations and fostering impactful projects.
